Nigeria or officially the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a federal constitutional republic of West Africa, which consists of 36 states and the federal district of the capital, Abuja.
The country borders Benin to the west, Chad and Cameroon to the east, and Niger to the north. To the south it is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean (Gulf of Guinea).
